Dubbed “The world’s most beautiful building” by National Geographic, the Museum of the Future’s exteriors are sure to catch your eye, even if you’re just cruising along the Sheik Zayed Road.
The unique shape of the building speaks for itself when it comes to futuristic design. The torus-shaped structure is symbolic of humanity that sits atop a green mound that represents the Earth. The void shows us an unknown future that we can steer in a positive direction.
The structure is enveloped in Arabic calligraphy- 3 quotes from His Highness, Sheik Mohammed, rendered in the calligraphy of Mattar Bin Lahej. It says “the future belongs to those who can imagine, design, and execute it,” “We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone,” and most importantly, “The future does not wait. The future can be designed and built today.” These quotes are meant to inspire us to be the change we wish to see in our future.
Enter the monumental atrium and take in the neat interiors bathed in a warm glow. Gaze up at the calligraphy panels that are spread throughout the building- these panels serving as a connection to the outer world.
Slap on your wristbands and board a speedy bubble elevator that ascends upward- into the unknown!

Your journey starts on floor 5. You’ll then trickle down, one floor at a time, in a cascading fashion, until you’re right where you started- the lobby! Hold on tight as the elevator speeds up to the 5th level, where your experience officially begins with Chapter 1: OSS Hope. Keep in mind that unlike in most galleries, the MOTF doesn’t have labels for what you’ll see: you are encouraged to use your creativity and imagination.

Your journey continues on Planet Earth. Walk through a digital Amazon (replete with audio-visual elements) that highlights the importance of climate change. Gasp at “The Vault of Life”, featuring a DNA library of 2000+ species that shows the urgency to repair damages caused by climate change.
Do Not Miss: Before heading to the next chapter, peek into the monitoring room where new species are evaluated!
Al Waha, or “The Oasis” is where you will disconnect from technology and revive your senses. The year may be 2071, and technology may have advanced significantly since you stepped into the museum, but this chapter is all about finding the right balance between reality and virtuality. You are encouraged to leave technology behind and embrace your imagination.
Do Not Miss: Make-a-wish in the wish pool & engage in the various interactive solo & group activities.
Let’s get back to technology: explore how researchers and designers have responded to the technological leaps since 2022. The main focus is on leading our planet to a better future- environmentally, culturally, socially, and politically.
Do Not Miss: There is an entrance to a viewing deck on this floor- you’ll be on the inner shell of the museum with the curve of the building behind you. Don’t forget to snap some Instagram-worthy shots while here.
If you’re visiting with children, we have saved the best for last at “Future Heroes”- a place where the planet’s future heroes- our children- have a space to let their imagination run wild. Children aged 10 and below can run around and play, while learning how to effectively build and beautifully shape their future.
